Board Meetings

The Planning and Community Development Department supports and facilitates the Brunswick County Planning Board, the Brunswick County Board of Adjustment, and the Brunswick County Technical Review Committee (TRC). Each Board/Committee has different duties, functions, and meeting schedules. 

PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board meets on the 2nd Monday of each month for its regular meeting and periodically meets the 4th Monday of the month for a worksession meeting. No action is taken during the worksession meeting. The public is welcome to attend. If you wish to speak or make a presentation at a Board Meeting, you must first be placed on the Agenda. To do so, contact the Planning and Community Development Department Office, by the noted deadline, to request participation.

Worksession:
Day: 4th Monday of month
Time: 6:00 PM
Where: Kay Moore Board Room (Health Department), Building A

The Planning Board has the following duties:

ü  Reviews and makes recommendations on:

o    Ordinance Text Amendments;  and

o    Rezonings.

ü  Hears and takes final action on:

o    Variances from Subdivision Requirements;

o    Major Subdivisions - Preliminary Plat;

o    Major Site Plans;

o    Planned Unit Developments (PUDs); and

o    Zoning Vested Rights Determination.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

The Board of Adjustment meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Brunswick County Commissioners' Chambers in the David R. Sandifer Administration Building. Board of Adjustment has the following duties:

ü  Hear and take final action on:

o    Variances;

o    Special Exception Permit;

o    Zoning Vested Rights;

o    Approval of Administrative Decisions;

o    Approval of Wireless Telecommunication Facilities; and

o    Interpret zoning boundary lines in concert with Planning Director or Designee.

TECHNICAL REVIEW COMMITTEE (TRC)

The TRC typically meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM in the Engineering Department Conference Room located in Building G. The day/time/location of the meeting is subject to change depending on the availablity of meeting space. The TRC has the following duties:

ü  Reviews and makes recommendations on:

o    Subdivision - Preliminary Plat;

o    Site Plans - Major/Multi-family;

o    Planned Unit Developments (PUDs); and  

o    Any other review requested by approving authority.
